Engagement Tools
Theme Features
Custom Homepage
Neutrino's homepage displays content organized by tags you select. Each tag section shows the latest 5 posts, or only featured posts if any are marked as featured within that tag.
How it works: Select tags in Ghost admin → Homepage displays them as content sections → Feature posts for editorial control
Quick use-cases: Portfolio (projects + essays), Magazine (news + reviews + features), Product blog (updates + tutorials + announcements)
Custom Landing Pages
Replace the homepage with any Ghost page using hero blocks, intro text (scroll-reactive highlighting), header sections, and upcoming feature grids.
How it works: Create Ghost page → Set as homepage → Build with content blocks → Add CTAs throughout
Quick use-cases: Product launch pages, course landing pages, agency home pages
Author Bylines
Every post ends with an author section that links to a destination set in Ghost's user settings. Create fake users to generate custom CTA blocks.
How it works: Author bio appears on posts → Links to user's website field → Can create utility "users" for CTAs
Quick use-cases: Personal brand building, multi-author publications, creative conversion blocks
Pre-Footer CTA
Dedicated conversion section before the footer with headline, description, and button – followed by newsletter signup and social links.
How it works: Configure in theme settings → Appears site-wide → Links anywhere (internal or external)
Quick use-cases: Newsletter signups, demo bookings, contact forms
Navigation CTA
Persistent button in the header, visible on load and when scrolling up. Styled with your accent color for brand consistency.
How it works: Set in navigation settings → Always visible → Can link internally or externally
Quick use-cases: Subscribe button, app download, book consultation
Announcement Bar
Ghost's native announcement bar styled in black, white, or accent color for time-sensitive messages above the main navigation.
How it works: Enable in Ghost admin → Choose color → Add message and link
Quick use-cases: Product launches, limited offers, event announcements
Implementation Examples
Digital Magazine
Goal: Build authority through curated content while converting readers to subscribers.
Setup:
- Homepage: Configure tags for "Features," "Opinion," "Reviews" – mark editor's picks as featured
- Navigation CTA: "Subscribe" button linking to membership page
- Announcement bar: Promote latest issue or special series
- Pre-footer: "Get our weekly digest" with newsletter signup
- Author bylines: Link to individual writer pages to build columnist following
This structure mirrors successful publications like The Verge or Stratechery – categorized content for discovery, multiple subscription touchpoints, and personality-driven engagement.
SaaS Product Blog
Goal: Educate users while driving product adoption and trials.
Setup:
- Homepage: Replace with landing page using hero + feature blocks + testimonials
- Blog: Move to
/blogwith tags for "Product Updates," "Tutorials," "Customer Stories" - Navigation CTA: "Start Free Trial" linking to signup
- Pre-footer: "See [Product] in action" with demo booking link
- Fake author CTAs: Create "Resources" user linking to documentation, "Support" user linking to help center
This approach follows patterns from Linear, Notion, or Figma – product-focused homepage with blog as secondary destination, persistent trial CTAs, and integrated support resources.
Creator Platform
Goal: Build audience through content while monetizing through courses or services.
Setup:
- Homepage tags: "Free Lessons," "Case Studies," "Resources" with best content featured
- Navigation CTA: "Work with me" linking to services page
- Announcement bar: Promote upcoming workshop or course launch
- Author byline: Links to creator's full bio and offering page
- Pre-footer: "Join 10,000+ subscribers" with newsletter signup
- Inline signups: Placed after valuable insights in posts
This mirrors successful creator sites like Ali Abdaal or James Clear – free value upfront, clear service offerings, and email capture at engagement peaks.
Additional Use Cases
The same flexible system works for:
Portfolio sites: Featured projects in homepage tags, hire me nav CTA, about page in byline
Agency blogs: Case studies and insights in tags, book consultation CTA, team pages in bylines
Community publications: Member content in tags, join community CTA, contributor profiles
News sites: Breaking news in announcement bar, sections in tags, journalist profiles
Course platforms: Free and paid content separation, enrollment CTAs, instructor bios
Each configuration uses identical features differently, proving Neutrino's adaptability while maintaining design consistency.
